it's been a long time since i've written. sometimes, i run out of things to write about. sometimes, some people say i write about the same things too often. sometimes, there's so much i want to say but don't find the right words to put my thoughts across. sometimes, thoughts come and before i can put them down, they're gone! excuses, all of them are, i know which is why i decided to write today and put an end to finding reasons not to do something that i love doing.
forgive me if this post is haphazard, (i don't want to say "random" for the word is used excessively today) for these are thoughts as they are. raw.
a month i just spent at home has been a month of love, learning, discussions, deliberations, growth, fun, affection, values, creativity and exploration. discussions with dad, at and not at the dining table; talks of society, globalization, the legal system, the government and life itself, where we came from, how we evolved, what our purpose is, what are we doing with our lives..issues we debated upon, talked about and learned about, together. quality time with mom, catching up on life, letting the creative juices flow with my two little sisters, observing, lying on the grass, dancing in the rain, cooking, reading and singing. enjoying the music in the dark, flirting with the keys on my keyboard. with 19+ years of life gone by and all the fights, disagreements, pushing, convincing, rebellion and everything else that comes as part of growing up, i realize now how lucky i've been.
through the summer i've been reading, the law and its vagaries, authors and their ideas, so many stories, so many lives. as the human race, all of us tend to find fault, look for the negatives in any system. whether it's the law or the government or even another fellow human being. we are all so caught up in looking for what isn't right about other people and their lives that we lose out on our own lives. in our quest to find the darkness, we fail to see the light. if only we could stop for a minute and look around us, look at all the good that's happening, the achievements of so many people, their thoughts, their ideas. if only we associated with the right people all the time, read the right things and opened our mind to new and fresh ideas instead of being trapped in dogma, you and i would live a life that we would be proud of. luckily for me, i have more than a few people in my life who have always taught me to look at the bright side and appreciate the best in anything. it's always better to find the positive and work on it instead of harping on the negative, weakening the subject and in turn adding negative energy to my own life. yes, life is almost never perfect but that is because we are never truly happy with everything that we have. perfection for all of us is utopian, when in reality it is here and it is now. if we begin to look at life that way, not only will it be better but it will also be satisfying, fulfilling and worthwhile. the negative energies will flow out to make place for positivity and love in our lives. you and i will grow, as individuals and together and so will the world. when we begin to realize that we are more than just a cog in the wheel, when we know that you and i can make a difference, we are only going to build a better world, for you and for me and the entire human race.
there's so much we are capable of, so much we can do but we are the ones who let the world pass us by. we let things come and go. life happens and we remain silent spectators. i watched the bucket list a few weeks ago and the movie forced me to sit back and think. you and i need to have our bucket lists and live every day as if it were our last. spread smiles, share some love and the world as we know it will transform into the world we've dreamt of. let's take a vow...to be the best we can be, to BE, just to BE. let's try and make a difference...and let's start from us.
THis is not at all haphazard. It flows beautiully and makes perfect sense. Reminds me of Bach.Wonderful post Rtiu .

ReplyDeleteHi Ritu! Jahnavi here. I've read your blogs. They're reflective and cathartic (in a positive way). They expose a dimension of you unseen by me before.
ReplyDeleteKeep writing!
Love,
J
Thank you so much!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Shyam, this is FAR from haphazard.
ReplyDelete'in our quest to find the darkness, we fail to see the light.'
That's a great way of putting it.
I'd generally say that its necessary for us to be AWARE of the darkness at least, and that being sunny and seeing the bright side of things is idealistic, and utopic on some level, but I'm inclined to agree on this- 'it's always better to find the positive and work on it instead of harping on the negative, weakening the subject and in turn adding negative energy to my own life'
By the way, I'm curious, why the affinity towards writing or rather emphasizing on positive vibes and the bright side and all? :) Not that it's a bad thing, but I've noticed you've blogged about it quite a bit, so I can see its something you feel very deeply about.
Thank you Atulaa! As far as writing or emphasizing on the bright side of life, as time has gone by, my belief in the Big Picture has only increased. Whenever things seemed to go wrong, a little time, and the Big Picture began to show a little more clearly. And each time it got clearer, i began to realize that it was always a good thing that was uncovered. So, there really is no point thinking about what is lost or what i don't have, hence the emphasis on the bright side of life. :)
ReplyDeleteAll your posts are deeply reflective in nature...they are touching in a sense as to stir the innermost feelings - in a contemplative way. Never mind what feedback you get, keep writing. For it is a soul searching experiment and journey. Remember that we(friends and well wishers) are with you at every instance.
ReplyDeletethank you so much!
