dancing in the rain

romantically perfect. the rain falling steadily. a translucent sheet through the air, kissing the trees, caressing the soil. softly and gently it falls, the soil sending out that aroma, pure and clean. the air looks fresher, the wind has a new life and the flowers blush like they've just been kissed. the wind blows the rain into my face and gives me another reason to be thankful.

the sound of the machine digging away to glory is overshadowed by the gentle music of the wind chimes as the sun slowly makes its way back through the clouds again. the birds that had found shelter on window sills and under roofs, slowly make their way out to be part of the romance. the celebration i see in the way they spread their wings is inspiring! why do rainy days in our lives leave us feeling down and out? why don't we learn from the birds? do we find comfort in the shelter that we take? too much comfort perhaps, that we begin to believe that there could be nothing better than lying in that soft bed? i think the most important thing in life is learning to get up and get going when you've been hit the hardest. i've succumbed to the comfy bed and gotten so comfortable sometimes, that i've needed a whacking before i've pulled myself up and brought myself back on track. the rain today made me promise myself i'm never going to get that comfortable again. 

when life is so beautiful and it has so much to give us...who are we to complain as much as we do? who are we to curse the darkness when a little patience shows us the sunshine and the rainbow? why don't we learn to dance in the rain instead of waiting for the storms to pass? why run for shelter and escape the love? today, i realize the rainy days can sometimes be the most beautiful days of my life (literally and figuratively) and when i'm part of the romance, good things happen. i'm learning to dance in the rain and i think you should too :) for it is a wonderful feeling!
